A Giant Weekend in Perth
The Incredible and Phenomenal Journey of The Giants to the streets of Perth was indeed incredible and phenomenal.
More than one million people flooded in to the city across the weekend to spend some time with The Giants as they searched for each other through city streets, rode scooters, danced and slept, delighting the excited crowd at every turn.
Hawaiian was a supporting partner of The Giants in Perth and CEO Russell Gibbs said the sponsorship was money well spent.
“It was a seminal experience for the people of Perth in many ways, I don’t think we’ve ever seen crowds like that before for an arts event,” he said.
“This is the perfect example of how a small conversation can lead to a Giant event.”
Mr Gibbs was instrumental in getting The Giants to Perth after a conversation with The West Australian and Perth Festival highlighted that The Giants were at risk of not coming to Perth if sponsorship wasn't secured.
“I saw the video of them walking the streets of Berlin and I thought that this was something the people of Perth should experience,” he said.
“Hawaiian believes in making a difference in the community and you only had to have a look at the crowds and the smiles on people’s faces this weekend to know that Perth was truly captivated by The Giants.
“The Perth Festival and Director Jonathan Holloway should be very proud of the way this event played out and we are very proud to have been a part of it.”
