Gold Giving Boxes help 21,000 have an unforgettable Christmas

The boxes, located in Hawaiian owned shopping centres, office buildings across the Perth metro area and Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa, collected a total of 7,044 kilos of food for Foodbank WA, equating to over 14,000 meals and Anglicare WA received an overwhelming total of 7,502 gifts.
Hawaiian CEO Russell Gibbs said the response from the community had been overwhelming.


“It’s our third year partnering with Foodbank WA and Anglicare WA for the Hawaiian Gold Giving Box and yet each year our communities still manage to overwhelm us with their generosity,” Mr Gibbs said.

“We want to give back to the community through our properties and so it makes us extremely proud when our shoppers, tenants and guests join us to give what they can. To triple last year’s results is astounding!” Mr Gibbs continued.


Anglicare WA CEO Ian Carter said it’s the collaboration that makes the campaign work so well.
“Hawaiian’s Gold Giving Box campaign is special in the way it brings together corporates, not-for-profits and the community to support a single worthy cause. Every year I am amazed by the sheer volume of gifts that are generously donated and it was fantastic to be able to provide so many families in need with something to brighten their Christmas.” Mr Carter commented.


According to Foodbank WA CEO Greg Hebble, the now established program has proved imperative to being able to keep up with the demand for support over Christmas.


“The Hawaiian Gold Giving Box program is a vital part of our Festive Food Drive collections. They provide a large variety of much need pantry staples at what can be the hardest time of year for some.  Thanks to the many generous donations we have been able to provide the equivalent of 14,088 meals for people in need”
